Head of Technical – Renewable Energy

Our client is a leading international renewable energy company dedicated to accelerating the global energy transition. With a strong focus on onshore wind, solar, and hybrid energy projects, the company is expanding its renewable energy portfolio across multiple international markets.

 

Role Overview

The Head of Technical will lead the technical assessment and optimisation of the company’s renewable energy projects. This role is crucial in shaping the technical strategy and ensuring the successful delivery of onshore wind, solar, and hybrid energy projects. The candidate will oversee technical due diligence, engineering assessments, and project optimisation, working closely with internal stakeholders and external consultants.

 

This position will provide lots of variety and exposure to international travel overseeing projects across LATAM, Europe, and APAC.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technical specialists focusing on yield assessments, project layouts, grid connection, logistics, electrical and civil design considerations.
  • Conduct and manage technical due diligence for both development-stage projects and potential acquisitions.
  • Liaise with OEMs and equipment suppliers to evaluate technical capabilities and negotiate contract terms.
  • Ensure quality control during construction phases, including factory inspections and performance assessments.
  • Develop and implement technical processes, tools, and best practices to optimize project design and performance.
  • Collaborate with development, procurement, construction, and operations teams to ensure technical excellence.
  • Manage external consultants providing technical services.

 

Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with a strong technical background in wind and solar projects.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in wind project technical assessments (yield & design).
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant qualifications.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing technical reviews in renewable energy (You’ll take on a team of three from day one)
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across international markets.
  • Fluency in English is required; Spanish would be beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

If so, we have the position for you!  The Company:A mid-sized Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer (IPP) with 3GW+ of installed capacity across Europe. As the portfolio expands, so does its ambition to drive to becoming a utility operator. As part of ongoing investment into high focus markets and also to underpinning capital to take on the increased risk of prop trading, they are looking to secure a Senior/Principal Portfolio Manager to join their high performing Energy Management team and set up their dynamic Portfolio Management function. The Role:As Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for developing & leading the group’s Portfolio Management strategy within Germany and then across Europe.
