About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineering Manager (HVDC) to lead the engineering delivery of major High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects. This is a key leadership position responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, managing technical interfaces, and ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

 

As the Project Engineering Manager, you will act as the primary engineering authority for complex HVDC projects from concept through commissioning, supporting the global transition to a more sustainable and resilient energy network.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary engineering interface between clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including electrical, civil, mechanical, protection & control, and commissioning disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain engineering execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
  • Manage technical risks, design reviews, change control processes, and engineering governance.
  • Oversee HVDC system design integration, including converter stations, control and protection systems, substations, and transmission infrastructure.
  • Support procurement activities through technical evaluations, supplier engagement, and design reviews.
  • Monitor engineering performance and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to project engineering teams.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and project handover activities.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in power transmission, substation, or HVDC projects.
  • Proven track record managing engineering delivery on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of HVDC technologies, converter stations, control systems, and grid integration.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and external engineering partners.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of international engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and engineering governance processes.

 

Desirable Skills

  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Experience with EPC, EPCM, or turnkey project delivery models.
  • Familiarity with offshore transmission systems and renewable energy integration.
  • Knowledge of grid codes and power system studies.
  • Experience working on international projects and multicultural teams.
